Greetings from Burns Valley Herbals and Retreat. This first blog comes at a time in our lives that we have never witnessed before, Corona virus. I hope all of you are safe, healthy and stay healthy. I feel truly fortunate to be living in a beautiful location with plenty of space to roam and plenty of things to do while trying to stay isolated. Stay tuned for workshops that are being planned to occur later this summer and fall. By that time, hopefully, we will be able to be out and about and will be ready to spend some quality in person time together.
Seeing that this winter had been so mild, the raspberry beds were cleaned ahead of schedule and a new bed was prepared for a different red variety that I am hoping will still arrive in a few weeks. There will also be a new variety of strawberry this year. Several varieties of herbs have been started indoors and will hopefully get to be relocated from the house to the new greenhouse section in the pole barn that is getting a facelift. Right now the project is on hold because we can’t get concrete delivered for another month. ☹ I am hopeful to be able to sell the plants and herbal products here and at a Farmer’s market again this year.
We have spent many hours clearing brush and a horrible amount of thorns from the creek area below the pond. It has turned out to be an incredibly special private area for meditation, relaxation, and ceremony. A stone walkway and fire pit are currently being constructed. We anticipate utilizing the area a lot this year. Sunset disc (frisbee) golf on our 9-hole upper course has been a regular activity for Joe and I.
With having more time to focus on learning how to utilize YouTube , we now have our own channel. Be sure to like and subscribe. So far there are videos uploaded that I started making last year on identifying herbs taken when I did not know to hold the camera horizontal. LOL. Watch for more videos that will have more features added thanks to Raine Dawn and Theo. Love you guys and appreciate all you have been doing and teaching me to do the past couple weeks as we are enjoying our “stay at home orders due to Covid19” together at Burns Valley Herbals and Retreat.
Well, that’s all the news for now. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay busy.
